Well, here I am, stationed at Virginia Beach, Damneck Naval Base. Thanksgiving is next week and Christmas not long after that. Unfortunately, due to monetary concerns, I'll be spending the holiday season away from my loved ones back in Utah and Montana. I'm pretty depressed about it, but there's nothing to be done and I know they'll love me regardless... hopefully?

I don't have any of my art supplies or anything, but I bought a cheapo 79 cent notebook and gel pen from the NEX and I've been doodling in/with it. Tonight, actually, I drew a really wicked little butterfly which I believe may evolve into my first tattoo. I took a picture with my phone... But I'll probably just post a pic of the finished product. I've wanted a tattoo (or ten) since I was a child, but I only recently decided that I only wanted meaningful work drawn by myself or those dear to me on my body. It'll be an exciting venture for sure. Luckily, my roommate just started a tattoo yesterday and has agreed to take me into the parlour with her. I was kind of scared to go alone... I may yet restart my piercings too, but I'm considering leaving that for after my service term. Along with a bakery, husband, and dreadlocks.
We're not allowed to wear body jewelry in uniform and healing takes months, so...

Another quick note to my friends here on DA,
please send me love-mail! I'm far away from home and family, serving in the US military, unable to go home for Christmas... and I just lost three amazing family members while in bootcamp. Things are tough right now and I would absolutely love a pick me up.
It may seem kind of awkward to send a letter to someone you don't really know, but that's how pen-pals work! We get to know each other through our writing.
